Title: ●Coast Guard Programs, Regulations, and Policies and Climate Change
Abstract:

The U.S. Coast Guard seeks input from the public on specific Coast Guard programs, regulations, and policies for it to consider implementing, modifying, streamlining, expanding, or repealing in order to prevent and respond to climate change in the context of a safe, secure, and resilient marine transportation system. Coast Guard missions are identified in 6 U.S.C. 468. This information will help the Coast Guard effectively achieve its missions in a manner that also advances the Administration’s priority of reducing the impact of climate change on the environment.  This will help USCG ensure that its programs, regulations, and policies contain necessary, properly tailored, and up-to-date requirements that effectively achieve USCG’s mission in a manner that furthers the goals of removing regulatory and policy barriers to promoted increased or accelerated adoption of emerging technology, adoption of alternative fuels or other power sources, improved ship design standards, or other standards to mitigate the impact of the maritime industry on climate change.  We further seek this input to ensure that we are implementing programs, policies, and activities that address (1) The cumulative effects of environmental damage, (2) the disproportionately high, adverse climate-related impacts on disadvantaged communities and (3) guarantee a maritime transportation system that facilitates commerce and secures national security interests.
