Title: Showerhead Definition Rule | |
Abstract:
On December 16, 2020, the United States Department of Energy (DOE) published a final rule amending the definition of the term showerhead and establishing definitions for body sprays and safety showerheads. In this final rule, DOE revised the definition of the term showerhead to be consistent with the definition of showerhead in the most recent standard developed by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, such that each showerhead in a product containing multiple showerheads would be considered separately for the purpose of compliance with the 2.5 gallons per minute water conversation standard for showerheads. DOE is reviewing this final rule as required by E.O. 13990, Protecting Public Health and the Environment and Restoring Science to Tackle the Climate Crisis, 86 FR 7037 (January 25, 2021). Following its review, DOE will issue a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to propose any necessary amendments to the definitions of the terms showerhead, body spray, and safety showerhead. |
