Title: Background and Licensing | |
Abstract:
The National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC or Commission) is considering regulations to clarify the Commission’s authority to conduct background investigations and implement the Commission's authority under 25 U.S.C. section 2706 of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA). Under IGRA, the Commission is authorized to conduct background investigations as necessary. This action will further IGRA’s mandate that the Commissions safeguard the integrity of the Indian gaming industry by clarifying who may be subject to a background investigation and establishing procedures for doing so. |
