Title: Civil Rights Compliance Requirements | |
Abstract:
Rural Development (RD) provides Federal financial assistance to rural communities through its housing, community, and business programs on an equal opportunity basis. RD is responsible for ensuring non-discrimination for persons and entities in activities conducted by the USDA and for ensuring non-discrimination in its federally assisted programs and activities. This proposed rule would cover all those items that are specific to RD and not already addressed in 7 CFR part 15. This proposed rule would update policies and procedures for implementing the regulations of the Department of Agriculture issued pursuant to title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, Executive Order 11246 and the Equal Credit Opportunity Act of 1974, as they relate to the USDA Rural Development or its successor agency under Public Law 103-354. Nothing herein shall be interpreted to prohibit preference to American Indians on Indian Reservations. |
