Title: ●2022-2025 Annual Catch Limits and Accountability Measures for Main Hawaiian Islands Gray Jobfish
Abstract:

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) proposes to implement annual catch limits (ACL), annual catch targets (ACT), and accountability measures (AM) for gray jobfish (uku), in Federal waters around the main Hawaiian Islands (MHI). The Western Pacific Fishery Management Council (Council) recommended an ACL of 295,419 lb and an ACT of 291,010 lb for MHI uku for fishing years 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025. The fishing year is January 1 through December 31. The Council recommended the proposed action in consideration of the risk of overfishing, past fishery performance, uncertainty in in-season catch estimates, acceptable biological catch recommendations from its Scientific and Statistical Committee, and public input. The proposed action supports the long-term sustainability of the fishery.
