Title: Enrollment Fee and Cost Sharing Under TRICARE Select | |
Abstract:
This interim final rule implements section 702 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2020 (NDAA-2020). The law mandates that retirees and their dependents pay TRICARE premiums via allotment from military retired/retainer pay where feasible instead of credit card or electronic funds transfer (EFT) beginning January 1, 2021. In implementing the statutory change, better care is advanced by reducing the recurring administrative hurdle of credit card and EFT draft payments by pulling these premiums directly from monthly retired/retainer pay. These consistent payments, now conditioned (when feasible) on a recurring government process, ensure consistent access to care. |
