Title: Civil Monetary Penalty Rates Inflation Adjustments for Calendar Year 2022 
Abstract:

This final rule will adjust the maximum civil monetary penalty (CMP) rates for inflation and announce the rates applicable to Calendar Year 2022. This rule will adjust the CMP's contained in ONRR’s regulations, furthering the Act’s public-interest purpose to prevent inflation from weakening the deterrent effect of CMPs. ONRR’s CMPs, adjusted for inflation, will continue to ensure that Federal and Indian lessees are appropriately deterred from violating mineral and energy leasing laws at the expense of the United States Treasury, States, and Tribes.
