Title: Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Lesser Prairie-Chicken; Threatened Status and 4(d) Rule for the Northern Distinct Population Segment (DPS); Endangered Status for the Southern DPS
Abstract:

This final rule will make a determination on our proposal to list two distinct population segments (DPSs) of the lesser prairie-chicken (Tympanuchus pallidicinctus), a grassland bird known from southeastern Colorado, western Kansas, eastern New Mexico, western Oklahoma, and the Texas Panhandle under the Endangered Species Act, with a 4(d) rule that would apply to the threatened population. If we finalize this rule as proposed, it will extend the Act’s protections to these two DPSs.
