Title: Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Threatened Species Status With Section 4(d) Rule for Longsolid and Round Hickorynut and Designation of Critical Habitat
Abstract:

This final rule will make a determination on our proposal to list the longsolid (Fusconaia subrotunda) and round hickorynut (Obovaria subrotunda) as threatened species with section 4(d) rules. Both mussels are found in the southeastern United States. The FWS will also make a final determination on our proposal to designate critical habitat for these species under the Act. For the longsolid, FWS proposes to designate approximately 1,115 river miles (1,794 kilometers) in Pennsylvania, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee, and Alabama. For the round hickorynut, FWS proposes to designate approximately 921 river miles (1,482 kilometers) in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi. If FWS finalizes this rule as proposed, it would extend the Act’s protections to these species and their critical habitats as described in the proposed rule.
