Title: Whistleblower Program | |
Abstract:
This notice proposes to establish the procedures to implement the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Safety Whistleblower Act, FAST Act sections 24351 and 24352, codified at 49 U.S.C. section 30172. The proposed regulations would implement the whistleblower program. The proposed regulations would enhance the protections provided to whistleblowers and codify the scope of the whistleblower program. The rulemaking would define certain terms critical to the operation of the whistleblower program, outline the procedures for submitting original information, applying for awards, the Agency's procedures for making decisions on the claims, appeals of such decisions, and payment of the award. It would also contain provisions relating to the confidentiality of the whistleblower’s identity and a prohibition against whistleblower retaliation. |
