Title: Response to Petition for Reconsideration Correcting Minor Errors in Part 572 Q3s Side Impact Dummy Drawings
Abstract: This rulemaking action responds to a petition for reconsideration of a November 3, 2020 final rule establishing a regulation for a new anthropomorphic test device called the Q3s three-year-old child test dummy. The rule will simply correct errors in a few technical drawings of the dummy that are incorporated by reference into the regulation. The Q3s was developed to evaluate the risk of injuries to children in side impacts. NHTSA is planning to use the new dummy in a future side impact upgrade of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 213, Child restraint systems.
