The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Farm Credit Administration, and National Credit Union Administration (collectively, the Agencies) issued a proposal to reorganize, revise, and expand the Loans in Areas Having Special Flood Hazards; Interagency Questions and Answers Regarding Flood Insurance, and solicited comments on all aspects of the amendments. The Agencies prepared proposed new and revised questions and answers addressing the most frequently asked issues. In addition, the proposal helps lenders meet their responsibilities under Federal flood insurance law and increases public understanding of the flood insurance regulations. Significant topics addressed by the proposed revisions include the effect of major amendments to flood insurance laws with regard to the escrow of flood insurance premiums, the detached structure exemption, and force-placement procedures. The Agencies will review the public comments and work toward a final set of questions and answers.
