DoD, GSA, and NASA are proposing to amend the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) to implement Executive Order (E.O.) 14042, Ensuring Adequate COVID Safety Protocols for Federal Contractors, dated September 9, 2021.  The Executive Order requires a clause to be included in certain contracts to ensure contractors are adequately protected from COVID-19 by requiring certain contractor and subcontractor compliance with all guidance for contractor and subcontractor workplace locations published by the Safer Federal Workforce Task Force. The rule will promote economy and efficiency in procurement by contracting with sources that provide adequate safeguards to their workers which will decrease worker absence, reduce labor costs and therefore, improve contractor and subcontractor performance on Federal procurements.
