Title: ●2022 Recreational Fishing Measures for Gulf of Maine Cod and Haddock | |
Abstract:
As authorized by the regulations implementing the New England Fishery Management Council’s Northeast Multispecies Fishery Management Plan, this action proposes to set management measures (season length, possession limit, minimum size) for the recreational fishery for cod and haddock in the Gulf of Maine for the 2022 fishing year (May 1, 2022, through April 30, 2022). The measures are based on a recommendation by the New England Fishery Management Council that accounts for updated catch information and the fishing year 2022 quotas. We adjust measures annually, as needed, to ensure that recreational catch achieves, but does not exceed, available quota. Recreational measures set harvest seasons, possession limits, and minimum fish sizes for private and for-hire recreational fishing operators in the Gulf of Maine. |
