Title: Increasing Transparency of 232 Investigations by Requiring a Public Submission for a Request or Application for an Investigation | |
Abstract:
This final rule revises the requirements for submitting a request or application for an investigation under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962, as amended ("232”). The changes in this final rule will increase the transparency of 232 investigations by requiring a public submission for a request or application for an investigation. The changes made in this final rule still allow for submitting national security classified information and business confidential information when submitting a request or application for an investigation. However, in order to aid public understanding of the origin of 232 investigations, the Commerce Department has determined that it is warranted for business confidential information to require a public submission when submitting a request or application for an investigation. |
