Title: Test Procedures for Commercial Unitary Air Conditioning and Heating Equipment
Abstract:

Consistent with the requirements under the Energy Policy and Conservation Act (EPCA), as amended, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is examining whether to amend the current test procedures for certain categories of commercial package air conditioning and heating equipment found at 10 CFR 431.96.  The classes of equipment that would be affected by this rule are evaporatively-cooled commercial unitary air conditioners, water-cooled commercial unitary air conditioners, and air-cooled commercial unitary air conditioners.  As a result of this proceeding, DOE may propose and adopt new and amended test procedures for this equipment, or issue a determination that no amendments to the current test procedures are required. Once completed, this rulemaking will fulfill DOE’s statutory obligation to either propose amended test procedures for this equipment or determine that the existing test procedures do not need to be amended.
