Title: Amend FMVSS No. 141 Minimum Sound Requirements for Hybrid and Electric Vehicles
Abstract: NHTSA previously planned to withdraw its September 17, 2019 notice of proposed rulemaking which responded in part to a petition from the Auto Alliance and Global Automakers to amend FMVSS No. 141 to allow driver-selectable pedestrian alert sounds on hybrid and electric vehicles. The agency now plans to issue a final rule that would address petitioner's request and other issues proposed in the 2019 notice.
