Title: ●Portable Fuel Containers Safety Act of 2020 | |
Abstract:
The Portable Fuel Container Act requires the Commission to issue a final rule within 30 months of enactment of the Act that requires flame-mitigation devices in portable fuel containers that impede the propagation of flame into the container, unless the Commission determines that there is a voluntary standard that meets the intent of the Act for flame-mitigation devices for portable fuel containers within 18 months of the enactment of the Act. Any such Commission determination regarding a voluntary standard must be published in the Federal Register . If such a determination is made, the Commission is not required to issue a final rule as required by the statute. Staff is preparing a briefing package recommending the Commission publish a Federal Register notice determining certain voluntary standards meet the intent of the Act. |
