Title: Debt Collection for Civil Service Retirement System and Federal Employees Retirement System 
Abstract:

The Office of Personnel Management is proposing to delete sections 831 subpart M (5 CFR 1301 1309), subpart N (5 CFR 1401 to 1407), subpart R (5 CFR 1801 to 1808), and part 845; amend 5 CFR part 835 to include updated regulations to administer the debt collection activities under the Civil Service Retirement System and the Federal Employees Retirement System. The current regulations reference title IV and do not incorporate any of the changes that were set forth by the Debt Collection Improvement Act of 1996. The regulations also need to incorporate any precedential decisions that have been made since the last update in 1995.
