Title: Regulation Implementing Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 | |
Abstract:
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 requires Federal agencies to promulgate regulations to provide that no otherwise qualified individual with a disability shall, solely by reason of a disability, be excluded from participation in or subjected to discrimination under any program conducted by a Federal agency. This statutory mandate applies to the Peace Corps program that permits Americans to serve overseas as volunteers. The Peace Corps is considering regulations to set out its policy regarding nondiscrimination on the basis of disability and procedures for addressing complaints for violation of the policy. |
