Title: ●Consumer Price Index Adjustments of the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 Limit of Liability for Offshore Facilities | |
Abstract:
BOEM is mandated, under the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 (OPA), to update the limits of liability for damages caused by oil spills originating at offshore facilities and to establish and maintain evidence of financial responsibility for facility operators. This final rule adjusts the offshore facility limit of liability for damages under the OPA (33 U.S.C. 2701 et seq.) to reflect the increase in the Consumer Price Index since 2018, as required by OPA, in accordance with the methodology specified in current BOEM regulations. |
