Title: Injurious Wildlife Species; Listing Salamanders Due To Risk of Salamander Chytrid Fungus
Abstract:

This action will be two rules in one document. One is a final rule that will affirm the 2016 interim rule that listed 20 genera under 18 U.S.C. 42(a) as injurious to prevent the risk of introduction into the United States of Batrachochytrium salamandrivorans (Bsal), a fungus that is causing massive die-offs in European salamanders. Bsal primarily affects salamanders and is not yet known to be found in the United States. The other rulemaking action is a second interim rule that is needed because of recent studies documenting additional genera that also share the same traits that make them injurious as carriers of Bsal.
