Title: ●Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Significant Portion of the Range Analysis for the Northern Distinct Population Segment of the Southern Subspecies of Scarlet Macaw | |
Abstract:
FWS is reassessing the significant portion of the range analysis for the northern distinct population segment (DPS) of the scarlet macaw subspecies Ara macao macao, which is currently listed as threatened. We are considering how recent case law on the Service’s significant portion of the range policy and the plain language of the Endangered Species Act may affect our February 26, 2019, final rule designating the northern DPS as a threatened species. If we determine that a change in the status of the DPS is warranted based on that analysis, we will also notify the public that we will prepare a proposal to reclassify the status of the DPS. |
