Title: Enforcement of Nondiscrimination on the Basis of Disability in Programs or Activities Receiving Federal Financial Assistance From the United States Department of Homeland Security | |
Abstract:
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is proposing to issue a rule that establishes DHS procedures for the enforcement of section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, prohibiting discrimination on the basis of disability, as it applies to programs or activities receiving federal financial assistance from DHS. The rule establishes standards for what constitutes discrimination based on disability, incorporates amendments under the Americans with Disabilities Amendment Act, and provides procedures for resolving allegations of discrimination. Section 504 and the Department of Justice section 504 coordination regulation require that all agencies that extend Federal financial assistance issue agency-specific regulations implementing section 504. |
