DOE/EE RIN: 1904-AF42 Publication ID: Fall 2022
Title: Test Procedure for Miscellaneous Refrigeration Products
Abstract:

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is amending its regulations at 10 CFR part 429 to address inconsistencies between the instructions for determining product categories and the corresponding definitions to avoid confusion regarding the application of those definitions.  These changes are being made to help ensure that the implementation of DOE's test procedures for these products fully comply with the requirements to: (1) be reasonably designed to produce test results which reflect energy use during a representative average use cycle; and (2) not be unduly burdensome to conduct.  See generally, 42 U.S.C. 6293(b)(3).  DOE last amended its test procedures for these products in July 2016.  See 81 FR 46768 (July 18, 2016) (final rule) and 81 FR 49868 (July 29, 2016) (final rule; correction).
