Title: ●Eligibility for Readjustment Counseling
Abstract:

VA proposes to amend its medical regulations regarding readjustment counseling provided to eligible individuals in VA Vet Centers.  We propose aligning our Vet Center regulation with recent legislation which expanded eligibility for readjustment counseling to certain veterans or members of the Armed Forces including reservists who served on active duty in response to a declared national emergency or major disaster; National Guard members activated by the State in response to a disaster or civil disturbance in that State; and certain members of the Coast Guard who participated in drug interdiction operations.  In addition, we would address VA’s discretionary authority to provide readjustment counseling to certain members of the reserve components of the Armed Forces who have a behavioral health condition or psychological trauma.  We would also revise our Vet Center regulation for purposes of clarity and to align the regulation with longstanding policy and practice.
