FCC RIN: 3060-AK17 Publication ID: Fall 2022
Title: National Television Multiple Ownership Rules (MB Docket Nos. 13-236 and 17-318)
Abstract:

This proceeding considers whether to eliminate the so-called "UHF discount" in the Commission's national television multiple ownership rule. The discount attributes television stations broadcasting in the UHF spectrum with only 50 percent of the television households in their designated market areas.  In 2016, the Commission eliminated the discount. In 2017, upon reconsideration, the Commission reinstated the discount pending further review as to whether the national television audience reach cap, including the UHF discount, serves the public interest.  Later in 2017, an NPRM sought comment on whether to modify, retain, or eliminate the 39 percent national audience reach cap and/or the UHF discount.
