Title: Revisions to the Trade Monitoring Program for Toothfish | |
Abstract:
NMFS is proposing to revise its Antarctic Marine Living Resources Convention Act (AMLRCA) regulations at 50 CFR 300 Subpart G that implement the trade monitoring program for toothfish. The United States is a member of the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR) and has implemented, as part of its toothfish trade monitoring program, the CCAMLR catch documentation scheme (CDS) for toothfish that was initiated to inhibit trade of illegal catches. This action would remove a specific import prohibition on catches from certain areas of the Indian Ocean and make allowances for an online option for seafood importers to apply for preapproval certificates for imports of frozen toothfish. This action would also revise the process to obtain a preapproval certificate for imports of frozen toothfish. The regulations would be amended to reflect the availability of an online application, as an alternative to existing fillable electronic forms. This online application would decrease the processing time for preapproval certificates and serve to facilitate entry processing for importers. |
