Title: Modification of Catch Limits for Gulf of Mexico Red Snapper | |
Abstract:
The rule would change the Gulf of Mexico (Gulf) red snapper overfishing limit, acceptable biological catch, annual catch limits, and annual catch targets consistent with the recommendations of the Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council Science and Statistical Committee (SSC). The SSC’s recommendations are based on an updated analysis developed by the Southeast Fishery Science Center that used the most recent information from the Great Red Snapper Count and the National Marine Fisheries Service Bottom Longline Survey. The need for the rule is to revise the catch limits to continue to achieve optimum yield while preventing overfishing consistent with the requirements of the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act. |
