Title: Standardization of the Patent Term Adjustment Statement Regarding Information Disclosure Statements | |
Abstract:
The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO or Office) is revising the rules of practice pertaining to patent term adjustment to require the patent term adjustment statement regarding information disclosure statements to be submitted on a USPTO form. Use of the form will benefit filers by making it more likely the USPTO’s IT system will accurately capture the presence of the statement and take it into account during the initial patent term adjustment calculation. Use of the form will benefit the USPTO by avoiding the need for a manual review of the statement to ensure that it is a proper statement. |
