Title: DoD Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Program; Amendment | |
Abstract:
The Department of Defense is finalizing an amendment to 32 CFR part 286 that will update the list of designated Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Requester Service Centers listed in 286.3 and correct language concerning the FOIA Public Liaison role from Mediation to Dispute Resolution, found in 286.4. According to the FOIA, an agency may, in its regulation, designate those components that can receive FOIA requests. Additionally, the FOIA requires agencies to establish FOIA Public Liaisons, who are responsible for assisting in reducing delays, increasing transparency, understanding the status of requests, and assisting in the resolution of disputes. |
