Title: National Wildlife Refuge System; Station-Specific Hunting and Sport Fishing Regulations, 2023-24 | |
Abstract:
This proposed rule would make additions and revisions to station-specific regulations and expand hunting and sport fishing opportunities for the 2023-24 hunting and sport fishing season. This action is part of an annual update for the national wildlife refuge system and the national fish hatchery system that ensures adequate public notice of openings and changes. These changes and openings enhance conservation stewardship and outdoor recreation and improve the management of game species and their habitat. The FWS operates hunting and sport fishing programs on refuges to implement congressional directives to facilitate compatible priority wildlife-dependent recreational opportunities. Although hatcheries are not part of the national wildlife refuge system, by regulation, the administrative provisions of refuge regulations are applied to national fish hatchery areas. |
