Title: Test Procedures for Furnace Fans
Abstract:

During this rulemaking, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) may propose to revise its test procedures for furnace fans established under the Energy Policy and Conservation Act (EPCA), as amended. This rulemaking will evaluate the need to amend the current test procedures for this equipment. DOE notes that on October 12, 2018, DOE received a petition for rulemaking from the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) asking DOE to initiate notice-and-comment rulemaking to develop a new, unified test procedure for consumer furnaces which would replace the three currently required performance metrics, including the metric for furnace fans, with a single new metric.
