Title: Revision of Mortgagee Branch Registration Requirements (FR-6321) | |
Abstract:
HUD’s regulations currently require approved Mortgagees to register all branch offices that conduct FHA business with the Department in order to originate mortgages or submit applications for mortgage insurance in accordance with 24 CFR 202.5(k). The rule amends the requirement to register all branches that originate mortgages and/or submit applications for insurance. Additionally, Mortgagees are currently assessed application and annual fees for each authorized branch per 24 CFR 202.5(i). This rule clarifies that the Department will continue to assess application and annual fees for registered branches. This final rule will allow FHA to align its policy and business practices with the current mortgage industry business model that is geared toward remote practice. Mortgagees will remain fully responsible for the actions of their staff and the quality of the insured mortgages. |
