Title: Ban of Inclined Sleepers for Infants | |
Abstract:
On May 16, 2022, the Safe Sleep for Babies Act of 2021 designated inclined sleepers for infants as a banned hazardous product under section 8 of the Consumer Product Safety Act, effective not later than 180 days after enactment. On July 13, 2022, staff submitted to the Commission a briefing package to issue a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) to codify the ban on inclined sleepers for infants, as defined by the Safe Sleep for Babies Act of 2021. On July 19, 2022, the Commission voted to approve publication of the NPRM. The NPRM was published in the Federal Register on July 26, 2022, and the comment period on the NPRM ended on August 25, 2022. In fiscal year 2023, staff will submit to the Commission a briefing package regarding a final rule to codify the ban. |
