Title: American Society of Mechanical Engineers Code Cases and Update Frequency [NRC-2018-0291] | |
Abstract:
This rulemaking would incorporate by reference into the NRC's regulations the latest revision to regulatory guides that list the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Code Cases that the NRC finds to be acceptable (or conditionally acceptable). This rulemaking would affect nuclear power reactor licensees. This rulemaking would also amend the NRC’s regulation to revise the frequency of the inservice testing (IST) and inservice inspection program (ISI) updates required in 10 CFR 50.55a. The rulemaking would involve developing a requirement for an acceptable interval for program updates that changes from the current 120-month interval to a 240-month interval. This extension of the IST and ISI program update interval would provide improved flexibility to the industry for IST and ISI program implementation with no impact on safety. |
