Title: ●2023 Increase of Gifts and Travel Reimbursements Reporting Thresholds for Financial Disclosure Reports and Nonsponsor Widely Attended Gatherings Gift Exception Ceiling | |
Abstract:
Under the Ethics in Government Act (5 U.S.C. 13104(a)(2)(A) & (B)), the gifts and travel reimbursements reporting thresholds for public financial disclosure reporting are tied to the minimal value threshold for foreign gifts, which is revised by the General Services Administration (GSA) every three years. Office of Government Ethics (OGE) regulations extend the same thresholds to confidential financial disclosure reporting and OGE’s Standards of Ethical Conduct for Employees of the Executive Branch link the exception ceiling for nonsponsor gifts of free attendance at widely attended gatherings to the same thresholds. GSA updated the minimal value threshold in March 2023. Accordingly, OGE plans to issue corresponding technical amendments to its regulations. |
