Title: Amendments to the National Brucellosis Eradication Program | |
Abstract:
APHIS is proposing to revise its national Brucellosis eradication program so that State statuses would no longer be based on the prevalence of brucellosis within the State, but rather based on whether a State is consistent or inconsistent with regard to standards contained in a Program Standards document. In addition, APHIS proposes to remove the list of brucellosis State classifications for both the cattle and bison and swine programs from the CFR and move the list to the APHIS website, and to revise conditions for interstate movement of cattle, bison, and swine to reflect the new State classification system. Finally, APHIS is proposing to align vaccination and branding requirements in the regulations with current operational practices. APHIS has engaged with Tribal nations regarding this action. Tribes were included in the State/Federal/Tribal working group that helped with the regulatory framework for the rule. APHIS subsequently sent Tribes a letter informing them of the provisions of the proposed rule, and conducted a Tribal webinar for interested tribal nations. |
