HHS/FDA RIN: 0910-AI96 Publication ID: Spring 2024
Title: ●Modernizing the Standard of Identity for Maple Syrup
Abstract:

The proposed rule would amend the standard of identity for maple syrup in response to a citizen petition from the International Maple Syrup Institute (IMSI) and 18 other national, state, and international maple syrup associations.  The proposed rule would remove outdated content, promote product innovation, and support FDA’s work to modernize food standards of identity by increasing regulatory flexibility for industry and align the standard with the current industry practices.  We will also update the standard to address concerns with purity, taste, flavor, and color within the maple industry.
