Title: National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities Research Endowment Program | |
Abstract:
This rule would amend the regulation at 42 CFR part 52i governing the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) Research Endowment Program (REP) to incorporate in section 52i.3 the new expanded eligibility requirements for REP awards mandated by the John Lewis NIMHD Research Endowment Revitalization Act of 2021, Public Law 117-104. Section 2 of Public Law 117-104 amended section 464z-3(h) of the Public Health Service (PHS) Act (42 U.S.C. 285(h)) to update REP eligibility requirements to include current or former Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) or NIMHD Centers of Excellence awards made under section 736 and section 464-4 of the PHS Act. Additionally, the proposed rule would amend the title of part 52i to read part 52i John Lewis NIMHD Research Endowment Program to reflect the new name of the program. Also, the proposed rule would amend the title of section 52i.1 and within the Table of Contents make the same change, and make changes to several references in section 52i.13 that are necessary to update it. Correcting the title of part 52i and the title of section 52i.1 and making the necessary changes in section 52i.3 and section 52i.13 would ensure the regulation is up to date. |
