Title: Fluid Mineral Leases and Leasing Process | |
Abstract:
The final rule revises the BLM’s oil and gas regulations to update fees, rents, royalties, and bonding requirements related to oil and gas leasing, development, and production. The rule also updates the BLM’s process for leasing to ensure the protection and proper stewardship of the public lands, including addressing impacts associated with fossil fuel activities and ensuring a fair return to taxpayers. The BLM conducted extensive outreach efforts during the public comment period, including notifying Tribes twice and holding five public meetings (two virtual and three in-person) to engage stakeholders. During the 60-day comment period, the BLM received over 215,000 comments submitted by Federal, State, and local governments, local agencies, Tribal organizations, industry representatives, individuals, and other external stakeholders. Additionally, all relevant information, including slides and recorded virtual training sessions, was posted online to ensure broad accessibility and transparency. |
