Title: Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Listing Determination and Critical Habitat Designation for the Monarch Butterfly | |
Abstract:
This proposed rule would propose to list the monarch butterfly under the Endangered Species Act in Fiscal Year 2025, if listing is still warranted at that time. On December 17, 2020, FWS published a warranted-but-precluded 12-month finding for the monarch butterfly (Danaus plexippus plexippus) and added this species to the candidate list. This proposed rule would also propose to designate critical habitat for the species, if prudent and determinable. This butterfly is found throughout the contiguous United States. |
