Title: International Traffic in Arms Regulations: Expansion of Definition of Activities That Are Not Exports, Reexports, Retransfers, or Temporary Imports | |
Abstract:
The Department of State published a proposed rule on December 16, 2022, to include two new entries to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) to expand the definition of activities that are not exports, reexports, retransfers, or temporary imports.” The Department is now responding to the public comments received in response to that proposed rule and finalizing the proposed rule with certain changes. The rule is expected to address certain instances of defense articles transported by previously approved armed forces on a deployment or training exercise outside of a previously approved country. It also is expected to address transfers of foreign defense articles previously imported and subsequently exported from the United States. |
