DHS/USICE RIN: 1653-AA85 Publication ID: Spring 2024
Title: Immigration Bond Notifications
Abstract:

DHS is revising its regulations governing service of bond notifications. This final rule is consistent with Executive Order 14058, which directs agencies to take actions that improve service delivery and customer experience by decreasing administrative burdens, enhancing transparency, and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of government. Previous regulations authorized ICE to serve documents in-person, or by certified, registered, or first class (regular) mail. This final rule authorizes ICE to electronically serve bond-related notifications to obligors for immigration bonds and responds to public comments. The ICE transition to electronic notifications for bond-related documents is part of an electronic bonds system ICE developed to simplify the posting of bonds.
