Abstract:
The Office of Personnel Management is proposing to modify its uniform allowances regulations at 5 CFR part 591, subpart A. Under 5 U.S.C. 5901(a), when civilian Federal employees are required to wear a uniform in the performance of their duties, agencies must pay a uniform allowance or furnish a uniform at a cost not to exceed $800 a year, which has remained unchanged since 2007. Employees who may be required to wear uniforms include police and law enforcement officers; firefighters; medical personnel; safety inspectors; food service workers; and persons working in specialized trades, crafts, or manual labor operations. |
