Title: Amendments to Wild and Exotic Animal Handling, Enrichment and Training Regulations | |
Abstract:
APHIS is proposing to strengthen the regulations regarding the handling of animals regulated under the Animal Welfare Act, as well as the training of personnel involved in the handling of animals. APHIS is also proposing to establish standards addressing environmental enhancement for all regulated animals; the current regulations regarding environmental enhancement are limited to addressing the needs of non-human primates, birds, and marine mammals. This action follows an advance notice of proposed rulemaking in which APHIS solicited feedback on the possible changes to handling, training, and environmental enhancement regulations contained in 9 CFR parts 2 and 3. |
