Title: International Fisheries; Western and Central Pacific Fisheries for Highly Migratory Species; Changes to Bigeye Tuna Catch Limits in Longline Fisheries | |
Abstract:
Under authority of the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Convention Implementation Act (16 U.S.C. 6901 et seq.), NMFS proposes to implement provisions of recent decisions of the Commission for the Conservation and Management of Highly Migratory Fish Stocks in the Western and Central Pacific Ocean (WCPFC). This rulemaking would implement changes to the WCPFC longline bigeye tuna catch limit for the United States. The numerical limit would change pursuant to agreements with the U.S. territories of American Samoa, Guam, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. As such agreements, and the revenue they produced, are no longer authorized under CMM 2023-01, this rulemaking would have some economic effects on these territories. |
