Title: Ingredient Labeling of Distilled Spirits, Wines, and Malt Beverages | |
Abstract:
The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) requests public comment on possible changes to its alcohol beverage regulations related to ingredient labeling. A February 2022 report issued by the U.S. Department of the Treasury ("Competition in the Markets for Beer, Wine, and Spirits") discussed past and potential future proposals related to ingredient labeling of alcohol beverage products. The report stated that TTB should revive or initiate rulemaking proposing such ingredient labeling. During February 2024, TTB engaged with the public by holding two listening sessions and opening a public docket for written input on labeling of alcohol beverages to disclose per-serving alcohol and nutritional information, major food allergens, and/or ingredients. Consumers, public health stakeholders, alcohol industry trade groups, and industry members of all sizes participated, and this input informed the development of an advance notice of proposed rulemaking. |
