Title: Emergent Suicide Care | |
Abstract:
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) amends its medical regulations by establishing provisions for payment or reimbursement of emergent suicide care, including transportation costs, at a VA or non-VA facility for certain veterans who are in an acute suicidal crisis. Section 201 of the Veterans Comprehensive Prevention, Access to Care, and Treatment Act of 2020 (COMPACT Act) directs VA to furnish, reimburse, and pay for emergent suicide care. This rule establishes the criteria for determining the medical personnel qualified to identify an acute suicidal crisis. The rule also amends applicable existing regulations dealing with tentative eligibility and ensuring that there are no charges associated with COMPACT care. |
