Title: ●Framework Action; Fishery Management Plan for Coastal Migratory Pelagic Resources in the Gulf and Atlantic: Modifications to the Gulf Migratory Group Spanish Mackerel Catch Limits and Accountability
Abstract:

The Gulf Council is developing this routine proposed framework action to modify the Gulf Spanish mackerel catch limits and management measures based on the results of the SEDAR 81 stock assessment, which determined the stock is not overfished and not undergoing overfishing. The need is to update existing Gulf Spanish mackerel catch limits and management measures based on the best scientific information available and to achieve optimum yield, in accordance with the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act (Magnuson-Stevens Act). The specification of catch limits and related accountability measures is consistent with the authority in section 303(a)(15) of the Magnuson-Stevens Act (requiring annual catch limits and measures to ensure accountability). The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is issuing this proposed rule consistent with the authority in Magnuson-Stevens Act section 304(b).
